One story inside the game this week that most people aren’t talking about is the way both of these franchises have handled the business side of their roster. There are 18 starters in this game working on their rookie deal and making less than $850,000 a year. That’s good business and an indicator of what makes both of these organizations so good.
First, having that many young players starting in a Super Bowl is a credit to their player evaluation process. Getting them on the field early and having success early under the constraints of the current NFL salary cap gives them tremendous flexibility when it comes to making the proper roster building moves in the offseason, including the decisions they make in free agency. We always hear about the importance of building through the draft, and it’s true. But there’s a business benefit as well as a football benefit.
Check out the video and see why Bill Belichick and Thomas Dimitroff have done such a good job of getting these teams to this point.Add to My RFN
