We’ve spent much of the season introducing you to the statistics and analytics we use to evaluate the play of skill position players on both sides of the ball. Today, Real Football Analytics is focused on the big guys.
Offensive linemen don’t accrue statistics the way fans are used to seeing from players featured in Fantasy Football. But there is no shortage of information we can use to assess the performance of individual offensive linemen and offensive lines as a unit.
We can track things like Sacks and Pressures Allowed, Penalties committed and accepted, and the different ways a lineman is beaten by a defensive player. We can quantify how often a team runs the ball behind or in the direction of a particular lineman and the success ratio on those runs.
Today, we examine the play of two offensive lines: the Cowboys, which is widely regarded to be the best in the league, and the Seahawks, a young and evolving group that has struggled to protect Russell Wilson this season.Add to My RFN
