All of us here at the Real Football Network are excited to be escaping to the Margaritaville state of mind every Saturday to bring you a unique new content feature called Margaritaville Football. As Jimmy Buffett’s tour traveled across the country this year, production coordinator Heikki Larsen sat down with football personalities to talk sports, music, living the Margaritaville lifestyle and more.
We opened the program a couple weeks ago with former Super Bowl champion coach and current ESPN Monday Night Football analyst Jon Gruden. Then, Heikki sat down with three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt, and last week’s interview was with NBC Football Night in America analyst and former NFL player Cris Collinsworth. This week, he sits down with Ohio State Buckeyes football coach Urban Meyer.
Urban’s first Jimmy Buffett concert was in 1984, when he attended as…..a security guard? Yes! And he fell in love with the music and the Margaritaville vibe immediately. Since then, he’s developed a friendship with Jimmy and become a regular at shows. In their interview, Heikki got Coach to open up about his baseball career, the importance of routine, family, and hard work in his coaching philosophy, and the pride he feels as a coach when he sees his players drafted into the NFL. He also told some great stories about the famed Columbus pecan rolls that date back to Woody Hayes, and his experience recruiting on the remote Samoan Islands! For Coach Meyer, Margaritaville is a place we all strive to be! Take a listen and learn how Coach goes from the intensity of the sideline and the college football rat race, to his very own Margaritaville! You can only find it here, exclusively at realfootballnetwork.com.
