All of us here at the Real Football Network are excited to be escaping to the Margaritaville state of mind every Saturday to bring you a unique new content feature called Margaritaville Football. As Jimmy Buffett’s tour traveled across the country this year, production coordinator Heikki Larsen sat down with football personalities to talk sports, music, living the Margaritaville lifestyle and more.
We opened the program over a month ago with former Super Bowl champion coach and current ESPN Monday Night Football analyst Jon Gruden. Since then, we’ve had a whole cast of NFL and college football elites including JJ Watt, Cris Collinsworth, Urban Meyer, and Tennessee Titans Mike Mularkey and Taylor Lewan (you can link to ALL the podcasts below). This week, we stick with the offensive line theme as Heikki sits down with Cincinnati Bengals Asst. Head Coach and OL coach Paul Alexander.
Alexander has been with the Bengals since 1994, and through numerous coaching changes, he has remained, which says a lot about his coaching ability! In the interview, he and Heikki talk about working for Hall of Fame coaches early in his career at the college level, the importance of toughness and intelligence on the o-line, his interests away from football, including playing concert piano and the book he’s written (“Perform” by Paul Alexander)! But in addition to being a renaissance man, he’s still got that o-lineman thing about him. He’s a beer drinker (he puts his on ice because he likes it as cold as he can get it), and his advice for anyone looking for good food is to, “never trust a skinny guy!” His favorite restaurant in the whole world is the Carnegie Deli in New York City (he’ll take the Reuben, please!), AND he gives us his recommendation for the place to find the perfect cheeseburger (we’re looking at you Rochester, NY!). You’ll have to listen to the podcast to get the whole story – and you can only find it here, exclusively at realfootballnetwork.com.
