All of us here at the Real Football Network are excited to be escaping to the Margaritaville state of mind every Saturday to bring you a unique new content feature called Margaritaville Football. As Jimmy Buffett’s tour traveled across the country this year, production coordinator Heikki Larsen sat down with football personalities to talk sports, music, living the Margaritaville lifestyle and more.
We opened the program a couple weeks ago with former Super Bowl champion coach and current ESPN Monday Night Football analyst Jon Gruden. Then, Heikki sat down with three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt, and NBC Football Night in America analyst and former NFL player Cris Collinsworth. Last week, he sat down with Ohio State Buckeyes football coach Urban Meyer. Today’s podcast features our first current NFL head coach in the series, Mike Mularkey of the Tennessee Titans.
Mularkey couldn’t remember his first Jimmy Buffett show – he’s been to so many. But he remembered the last one in Jacksonville, Florida! He talked about all things football, music, travel, and food in our interview. His music playlist includes a lot of country and Jimmy Buffett. A self-proclaimed “water guy”, he has a house on the beach, enjoys scuba diving and fishing, and will be out in the water “doing the backstroke” in the middle of winter sometimes! He talked about his playing days and memories of trying to block Lawrence Taylor, his days as a coordinator and learning how to put together a game plan, and his time as a head coach and learning how to relate to his players. He loves the tailgating in Green Bay and Buffalo (and of course Nashville, his current home), and he LOVES cheeseburgers. That’s a big plus here in Margaritaville, so we were actually happy to hear Coach Mularkey tells us that his teams have won games BECAUSE of cheeseburgers! It’s true, but you’ll have to listen to the podcast to get the whole story – and you can only find it here, exclusively at realfootballnetwork.com.
