All of us here at the Real Football Network are excited to be escaping to the Margaritaville state of mind every Saturday to bring you a unique new content feature called Margaritaville Football. As Jimmy Buffett’s tour traveled across the country this year, production coordinator Heikki Larsen sat down with football personalities to talk sports, music, living the Margaritaville lifestyle and more.
We opened the program over a month ago with former Super Bowl champion coach and current ESPN Monday Night Football analyst Jon Gruden. Since then, we’ve had a whole cast of NFL and college football elites including JJ Watt, Cris Collinsworth, Urban Meyer, Tennessee Titans Mike Mularkey and Taylor Lewan, and Bengals OL coach Paul Alexander (you can link to ALL the podcasts below). This week, we are back on the head coaching trail as Heikki talks to Atlanta Falcons head man Dan Quinn, whose team hosts the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Divisional Playoffs this weekend.
Heikki Larsen sat down with Coach in the spring as he was putting the plan together for a season that would ultimately culminate in the NFC South title. They talked about Dan’s “Who’s Who” of coaching mentors in the NFL that includes Bill Walsh, Nick Saban, and Pete Carroll. He also dove into the mentorship among players in the NFL, and how the vets are willing to help the rookies, despite what most people expect to be a cut-throat environment in the league. They also talked about the central theme of the Falcons program, and that’s competition – to the point that guys come up to Dan’s office to compete on his indoor shuffleboard court! They discussed his New Jersey roots – watching football in the Meadowlands and going to Bon Jovi concerts, rum drinks on the beach, and the Hawaiian touch he puts on his ultimate cheeseburger! You’ll have to listen to the podcast to get the whole story – and you can only find it here, exclusively at realfootballnetwork.com.
