Five wide receivers were selected in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, and it was quite a class of pass-catchers: Sammy Watkins (4th overall pick), Mike Evans (7th), Odell Beckham Jr. (12th), Brandin Cooks (20th) and Kelvin Benjamin (28th).
Six more went in the first round in 2015, led by Amari Cooper, who was drafted 4th by the Raiders.
The Wide Receiver Class of 2016 doesn’t appear to have the same top-tier talent of its immediate predecessors. But that doesn’t mean there won’t be immediate impact player at the position — especially if they wind up in a system best-suited for their individual skill sets.
